Motto of the Month: October 2010

Dear Member,

It took six meetings this month for the LHBMA, I. selectors to choose this month's motto, courtesy of Burt Belzer, who thereby qualified as President of the Month:

I'M VERY EASY TO ENTERTAIN
just sit down and listen

No motto has given Joe, our official parade horse, more pleasure than this one due to his continuing preference for self-indulgent conversation. He has agreed to add a necktie with purple and gold stripes to his best parade outfit and to stay alert for any entertainment possibilities. The parade itself will be short but sweet, starting at Fifth Avenue and ending in the back room of Tiny's Candy Store.

Every family tree has to have some sap.

The Association's Committee on Definitions has confirmed that a Good Member of the Let's Have Better Mottoes Association, Inc. is one who submits a motto pronto. The pickle barrel in the corner where mottoes are seasoned is almost empty. More are needed.

Some cause happiness wherever they go; others, whenever they go.

Rejects this month included: "LET HE WHO HAS NEVER BEEN STONED cast the first sin," from Tom Mundy; "MANY FOLKS WANT TO SERVE GOD, but only as advisors," from Father Pete; and, "TO ERR IS HUMAN but it feels divine," from Tom Dupont.

If you think it's hard to meet people, try picking up the wrong golf ball.

Cordially,
John Belzer
Secretary
The Let's Have Better Mottoes Association, Inc.
